Skarface
Skarface was formed in 1991 in France. It is one of the most popular and commercially successful French bands in the history of music. The band specialized in alternative music style. Its name was borrowed from a famous film Scarface (1930).
Skarface debuted having rehearsed a lot, and, of course, it wasn’t in vein: the band was a success. In three months the band issued their debut self-produced EP. The band was extremely popular both in England and in France. The band didn’t want to sign any contracts with any of labels-they decided to release their albums by themselves.
Skarface released a full-length CD just by themselves. In September of 1992 they issued Cheap Pounk Skaaaaaa! which was considered to be one of the most selling albums in France, and several thousand copies were sold. The success of their self-released album made the band think over founding of their own label and allowed other singers to release their songs on it.
Skarface founded a recording company of their own. Though the members of the band were not sophisticated enough in making labels, but many beginning musicians signed contracts with them keeping in mind their previous success with releasing albums.
Skarface’ effort to create a label of their own had been the chief topic for discussion for a long time. Critics claimed that the band didn’t have enough experience to fulfill such a kind of job. However they couldn’t deny that their label was really successful.
Skarface’s stuff wasn’t permanent. Every now and then some of the members of the band left the band and were replaced by others. For example, while the band existed five lead guitarists replaced each other. But nevertheless the band worked at its label, released hits and made tours, being on the top of their success all the time.

Sizzla
Sizzla became popular in the end of the 90’s being on of the most prospective dancer, the leader of dancehall movement. He cooperated with Buju Banton and Capleton together with whom he tried to work out perfect dance techniques. Thus his creature was aimed to appeal to everybody. He was also known for his beautiful singing.
Sizzla’s real name is Miguel Collins. He was born on April 17 in 1976. He spent his childhood in the August Town area of Kingston. He showed an early interest in music and began performing on the stage since the very childhood. He debuted in 1995 signing a contract with not a very significant label Zagalou, and soon left it for Bobby "Digital" Dixon's Digital B imprint.
Sizzla released Kalonji in 1998. It was recorded in the United States of America and called Freedom Cry. This album comprised such greatest hits as "Love Amongst My Brethren" and "Rain Shower." Sizzla released his debut LP called Burning Up in 1995. And on his concerts he proved to be rather sophisticated, as he didn’t let the attention of the audience wander and their interest slacken, so strictly speaking the fans were on the edge of their sits, in fact, nobody felt like walking out.
Sizzla issued his second album in 1997; it was called Ye Jah and was extremely successful in that time. Then he released Black Woman & Child (also in 1997). The same year he issued a world of songs which became real hits and could be heard in different charts of various broadcasting companies.
So 1997 was very successful for Sizzla. It can be easily proved by enumerating at least some of his hits: "Like Mountain," "Babylon Cowboy," "Kings of the Earth," and the Luciano duet "Build a Better World." All of them were released on the same very label- on Burrell’s. And the following years he kept on issuing songs on that label.
