The Manhattan Transfer

The Manhattan Transfer was formed in the United States in the end of the 70th, though actually the musicians united in 1969. The band is known for releasing some albums of jazz style, some recordings of R&B and pop music. The band became extremely popular pretty soon after their forming; some of their songs became real hits and topped the charts.

The Manhattan Transfer comprised such musicians as Gene Pistilli (the leader of the band), Hauser, Erin Dickins, Marty Nelson, and Pat Rosalia. But the stuff of the band was not permanent, and such musicians as Laurel Masse and Janis Siegel are also known to be the members of The Manhattan Transfer (joined the band in 1972).

The Manhattan Transfer is popular for such well-known releases as Java Jive", "Tuxedo Junction" (became real hits and topped the charts), "Operator" (album, also was a success), Coming Out and Pastiche (album), "Chanson d'Amour" (one of the songs from the album, which became number one and topped the charts, ballad), "Birdland”.

The Manhattan Transfer is also popular for LP Mecca for Moderns which became a Top Ten hit topping the charts both home and abroad, Brasil (1987), the Tuba (a children's record) (issued in 1994), 1995's Tonin' ('60s R&B), and 1997's Swing, and many others.
