Spock's Beard was started in 1992 by brothers Al (guitar) and Neal Morse (vocals), and Nick D'Virgilio (drums). They recruited Dave Meros (bass) and released their debut album entitled The Light in 1994. The record became rather popular and was followed by the band’s second LP called The Official Bootleg in 1996. Before its releasing Ryo Okumoto (keyboards) entered the group.
In 1996 Spock's Beard issued the Beware of Darkness album, the full-length entitled The Kindness of Strangers followed the next year. In 1999 the band returned with the Day for Night LP, V appeared the following year. In the 2000’s Spock's Beard released such albums as double-CD Snow, Feeling Euphoria, Ocatane, Gluttons for Punishment.
