Sizzla

Sizzla became popular in the end of the 90’s being on of the most prospective dancer, the leader of dancehall movement. He cooperated with Buju Banton and Capleton together with whom he tried to work out perfect dance techniques. Thus his creature was aimed to appeal to everybody. He was also known for his beautiful singing.

Sizzla’s real name is Miguel Collins. He was born on April 17 in 1976. He spent his childhood in the August Town area of Kingston. He showed an early interest in music and began performing on the stage since the very childhood. He debuted in 1995 signing a contract with not a very significant label Zagalou, and soon left it for Bobby "Digital" Dixon's Digital B imprint.

Sizzla released Kalonji in 1998. It was recorded in the United States of America and called Freedom Cry. This album comprised such greatest hits as "Love Amongst My Brethren" and "Rain Shower." And in 1999 he issued even three albums called Be I Strong, Good Ways, and Royal Son of Ethiopia (Be I Strong became a real hit).

In 2000 Sizzla issued the double-CD Liberate Yourself, Words of Truth and Bobo Ashanti. In 2001 he released such albums as Black History, Taking Over, Rastafari Teach I Everything, and Blaze Up the Chalwa. The following year- Ghetto Revolution, and in 2003- Light of My World and Rise to the Occasion, in 2005- Soul Deep, and in 2006- Ain't Gonna See Us Fall and Waterhouse Redemption.

Sizzla must feel obliged to saxophonist Dean Fraser. It was he who recommended the beginning musician to a famous producer Philip "Fatis" Burrell. On his Xterminator label the musician issued plenty of singles such as "Judgement Morning," "Life's Road," "Blaspheme," "We Uh Fear," "I'm Not Sure," "The Gun."

Sizzla released his debut LP called Burning Up in 1995. And on his concerts he proved to be rather sophisticated, as he didn’t let the attention of the audience wander and their interest slacken, so strictly speaking the fans were on the edge of their sits, in fact, nobody felt like walking out.

Sizzla issued his second album in 1997; it was called Ye Jah and was extremely successful in that time. Then he released Black Woman & Child (also in 1997). The same year he issued a world of songs which became real hits and could be heard in different charts of various broadcasting companies.

So 1997 was very successful for Sizzla. It can be easily proved by enumerating at least some of his hits: "Like Mountain," "Babylon Cowboy," "Kings of the Earth," and the Luciano duet "Build a Better World." All of them were released on the same very label- on Burrell’s. And the following years he kept on issuing songs on that label.
