The Stranglers

The Stranglers (former title: the Guildford Stranglers) appeared in the place called Chiddington in the United Kingdom in the middle 70’s. The group’s first single entitled "(Get A) Grip (On Yourself)" had a great success in England and became the Top 50 hit. The record was followed by the Stranglers’s debut full-length album called Rattus Norvegicus the next year.

After issuing its debut album the Stranglers recorded and released such popular singles as "Old hairy misogynists," "Peaches," "Hangin' Around," "London Lady," "Five Minutes," “Bring on the Nubiles," "Choosy Susie," "Down in the Sewer," "Go Buddy Go," "Ugly," "Walk on By," "Mony Mony," "No More Heroes," "Nice'n'Sleazy," "Something Better Change," etc.

In 1977 the Stranglers went on the concert tour to the United Kingdom and Sweden. Soon after that the group issued its second full-length album, which included the chart-topper "No More Heroes," which sent the LP to the top of charts. The next group’s album was called Black and White, the record failed to charts and was followed by the live full-length entitled X-Cert.

In 1979 the Stranglers issued The Raven album, the track called "The Duchess" became very popular and flew up to the top of British and American charts. The next band’s full-length, Men in Black, oncluded such popular singles as "Let Me Introduce You to the Family," "Golden Brown," and "La Folie." The Collection 1977-1982 followed in the beginning of the 80’s.

In the 80’s the Stranglers released such hits as "Strange Little Girl," "European Female," "Skin Deep," "Nice in Nice," "Always the Sun," "Big in America," "Shakin' Like a Leaf," "All Day and All of the Night," etc. In the 90’s the band issued such LPs as 10 (1990), The Stranglers Greatest Hits, Stranglers in the Night, Saturday Night Sunday Morning, About Time, and Coup de Grace.
