Stan Getz

Stan Getz is one of the most popular tenor saxophonists in the history of music. During the 40’s he worked with such famous musicians as Benny Goodman, Stan Kenton, Jack Teagarden, and Jimmy Dorsey. Since 1947 till 1949 Getz played in Woody Herman's Second Herd. He took part in recording such hits as "Four Brothers" and "Early Autumn."

In 1951 Stan Getz and Jimmy Raney (guitar) funded their own band. In the late 50’s Getz went on the music tour in Europe, after which he issued his solo album entitled Focus. In 1962 he recorded the hit single, "Desafinado," with Charlie Byrd and Jazz Samba. Besides, in the early 60’s he worked with Laurindo Almeida, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Luiz Bonfá, and João Gilberto.

In the middle 60’s Stan Getz worked with such artists as Gary Burton, Bill Evans, and Eddie Sauter. In 1967 Getz and Chick Corea recorded the full-length album called Sweet Rain, the 1971’s Dynasty with Eddie Louiss, the 1972’s Captain Marvel with Chick Corea, the 1975’s The Peacocks with Jimmy Rowles.

During his brilliant career Stan Getz released a great number of hit singles and albums on such labels like Black Hawk,Roost, Savoy, Verve, MGM, Victor, SteepleChase, Prestige, Concord, Sonet, Spotlite, A&M, Columbia, etc. In 1991 Getz recorded his final album entitled People Time with help of Barron.
